Aaron Hughes and Giorgos Karagounis dropped down to the bench, while there was no place in the matchday squad for Kieran Richardson, who limped off at Anfield. Bryan Ruiz was back on the bench for the first time since suffering a hamstring injury in the 3-1 defeat to Sunderland in mid-November.
